We're on This Journey, Too

The journey of Heritage Fellowship began when Gary, one of our elders, heard J. Mark Fox speak about the “Family-Integrated Church” at a conference in the Spring of 2004.

This message caught fire in the heart of Gary, who had just begun work on his seminary degree. Sometime that year he shared the idea with one of the pastors at his church, Brian Speer and, as they say, the rest is history.

God led Brian and Gary over the next three years to develop a plan to plant a church that followed the basic ideas laid out by J. Mark Fox. A church where everyone worshiped together in the service with a focus on discipleship. Finally, with the blessing of their sending church, Putnam Baptist in Shelby, NC, Heritage Fellowship Church opened its doors (in Brian Speer’s basement) on September 15, 2007.

Since that time Heritage has moved twice now residing in a rented building just one mile from Gardner-Webb University. In 2016 we purchased ten acres of land just outside Boiling Springs, NC and hope to build on the site in the near future.

From our very beginning up until today you will find that what beats in the heart of Heritage is a love for each other and a love for Christ. Two-thousand seventeen marked the first decade in the life of our church. To us, it is just the beginning. We look forward expectantly to what God has in store for the people of Heritage. Why don’t you come join in the journey?
